Get ready...there's a new topic in town!!! Music is one of my favorite things to discuss, especially when it comes to what is music and what is just a song. I'm gonna make this segment brief this time, just to get your feet wet in this huge umbrella of thought. So without further adieu, my 10 favorite songs of the moment! (at least I didn't say 35 :) )

10. Master Blaster (Jammin') - Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder is so....cool! Yes, I tried using other, more descriptive words to describe him but couldn't think of any. Backspace is my friend. Anyhow, be advised, this album is too cool for school. Just used cool again..........cool.

9.  Motownphilly (Remix Radio Version) - Boyz II Men

I so desperately miss the days of 90s harmony. There's no musicality in songs today :( .

8. Bills, bills, bills - Destiny's Child

Destiny's Child was the soundtrack to my life for years. I reminisce about this song mainly because of the title. Money doesn't grow on trees....yet.

7. Controversy - Prince

Don't be turned off from this post, you expected this. Besides, this song is so spot on regarding a variety of issues. Whenever I see this song on my iPod, I'm COMPELLED to listen to it. Especially for the last verses :)

6. Scream - Michael & Janet Jackson

If there was ever a song to get you through the toughest of moods, THIS IS IT (I actually didn't mean to make that reference, but hey, accidents happen!). Song's amazing, video's amazing, you gotta love the Jackson family!

5. Got Till It's Gone - Janet Jackson feat. Joni Mitchell

Speaking of the Jackson family...haha. The Velvet Rope is probably my favorite Janet Jackson album (Janet. is a close second!) Every song is deep and inspiring and RELATABLE. Got Till It's gone is catchy, but in a deep and meaningful way.

4. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man - Prince

Though I have close to all the songs on this CD from iTunes, the day I see it in a store, it will be mine. Easily one of my favorite Prince albums (which do not share a category with the TAFKAP/ O ( + > albums just to clarify), along with Parade, Graffiti Bridge, Come, and Diamonds and Pearls.

3. Give In To Me - Michael Jackson

We aren't strangers here, and you ought to know by now that I would not do a music list without mentioning Michael at least twice. I mean, let's be real here. Let me also say that it was damn near IMPOSSIBLE to choose just one song out of any of Michael's albums, I settled for this once because this video trumps the one for "Dirty Diana" in my true humble opinion. Plus it's got Slash and it was shot in Germany and I think their flag is cool.

2. Sometimes It Snows In April - Prince & The Revolution

It took watching Under The Cherry Moon about 20 times for me to understand that this was the song playing during the plot's resolution (no, not revolution, read it again!). And even after I realized that, I didn't even like the song until I saw it live. Then 2 and 2 were put together and voila! 4!

1. Count The Days - New Power Generation

Talk about a jam! I've listened to this song on repeat every day since I got it. And it helps that I don't quite understand the song (despite looking at the lyrics multiple times) but I suppose that's the genius of it. I love the chorus, the harmonies, and the simple fact that some mother-lover won't leave Prince/TAFKAP/ Tora Tora alone :)

This list didn't even begin to cover the songs that I need to hear on a regular basis. These lists will be coming frequently, so get your iTunes account ready. It's gonna be a beautiful night....live!

[fashion] So Beat, Oh So Beat

Let me get the introductions over with, so you can oogle at these pictures like I did/will. I absolutely adore the transformations that makeup can do on a blank canvas of a face. It's one of the most interesting parts of fashion in my true humble opinion. I snagged a few beauty shots off the internet (there are thousands more, I know I left out vital ones), I just the ones that particularly caught my eye. If only, if only.... (because I would rock these looks to school/ out & about IN A HEARTBEAT if I knew how) And I just want to inform you that it took every bit of will in my being to leave out pictures of Michael Jackson and Prince. I might just add them on later because I know of quite a few great shots :)

PS- For those of you who don't already know, when a face is "beat", it's an expression meaning the makeup is done flawlessly. In case you haven't already picked up on this, I rarely explain my titles, and I probably won't ever again, but I thought, just this once, I'd share it with you :)

The Countdown: 1980s

I've got to be honest, I've been putting off these "Decade Countdown" segments for one sole reason, they take SO MUCH TIME. I love to go back to different times and explore the fashions but they are truly draining. So I'm going to modify the way I do them from now on. Dig?

Favorite Outfit of the Decade-

MJ returns! Thought I forgot about him, eh? Well, the jokes on you because I don't forget anything! Of all his sparkly jackets, this has to be my favorite.

In terms of mass fashion, I loved the big hair, it was fun! I also loved the colors (but NOT the color combinations...need I say more?). I definitely hated the jogging suits of the hip-hop crowd and all the bangles were just a mess. Oh, and I hate everything Madonna wore. Clearly, I don't follow the crowd there.

I like that this wasn't the common look of the 80s. But hey, it's VOGUE.

Phew, that wasn't so bad/good/comprehensive! Hopefully the 70s will be coming in the near future.
